Bhutan

There is a mysterious kingdom in the world that remains elusive even to seasoned travelers. This place is the Kingdom of Bhutan, also known as the “Land of the Thunder Dragon.” Bhutan opened up to the outside world in 1974 and officially launched its tourism industry in 1991. The government implemented a “high value, low impact” tourism policy, setting a minimum daily expenditure for tourists to ensure a sustainable balance between tourism, livelihoods, and the environment. In the era of global economic integration, the King of Bhutan advocates for a new economic model defined by  “happiness and well-being” and has officially incorporated “Gross National Happiness” as a key development indicator for Bhutan.

Tiger’s Nest Monastery

This iconic monastery is considered a national treasure of Bhutan. Legend has it that the great master Padmasambhava meditated here, attaining enlightenment and establishing the teachings of the “Thunderbolt of Indestructible Compassion.” Bhutanese people believe that climbing to the monastery allows one to leave their sins behind and bring back good fortune.
